Driveshaft oil seals

Rocco 1.8i Scala, 1992, standard box.
Driveshaft oil seals, easy or difficult to change???
Ie: do i need special tools or can home mechanic complete job with regular toolery(is that a word)? :hugegrin:

Is it the cv boot your refering to?

No mate, i can do them no probs. Its the actual seal that sits in the gearbox. Got a slight drip from the near side seal where the driveshaft goes into the box.

If you mean the seals round the driveshaft flanges on the gearbox, you will need to either buy or make up one of these

in order to be able to press the flange against the spring into the box to be able to remove the circlip.

You will also find it easier to remove and refit the circlip, if you have a set of Knipex 45 21 200 ring pliers (cost approx £40)

as the circlip does not have the grip holes used by normal circlip pliers.

Oooofff!!! It might work out cheaper/easier if i take it to local Veedub garage. I'll Consider my options.
