Scirocco Register

soooo i'm currently away with work, and thought id leave the rocco at my usual garage for a couple of weeks and let them fix a few things that are beyond me/that i dont have the time or the tools to do. I also left them with a bootful of bits to replace all the broken stuff and haul it through an mot. seems like a good idea right? hmmm.

i get a voicemail this morning saying they've fitted the jom coilovers i supplied (for mk1/2 scirocco/golf, that my mate has also got on his scirocco) but they are having trouble with the clearance and getting chafing on the wheel arches even when adjusted right up at the highest? Thats like a drop of 20 mm max, which a rocco should be easily able to take right? Are they/I missing something obvious?

this is doubly annoying as im not in town to go and look at wtf they are talking about... any thoughts guys?

Yo, you running standard wheels? But even with negative ET you shouldn't have rubbing issues really.

No wheel spacers fitted either?

How big are the wheels you're running? Unless you're running something gigantic I really cant see why it would be a problem.

*edit* Just had a look at the photo you posted and if you're still running the P-Slots then I'd suggest you call the garage and politely ask them to lay off the crack pipe before working on your car. Assuming you're running those you should be able to get some major lowness. Even running rather wide wheels I was able to beat the car heavily with the lowering stick before I had the arches rolled.

completely standard, should just be an easy bolt in job - i literally cannot think of anything that could be causing them this much grief
unless they are not understanding the concept of coilovers... surely not

EDIT - thanks guys, this is exactly what i thought - its so simple, i would have done the job myself except it insisted on peeing it down for the whole week before i went offshore, making my open air garage somewhat unpleasant. and now i wish i had, so i wouldnt be sat here freaking out about who ive let loose on my poor old car.. sigh.

Have they got the wheel camber wrong?
