hi everybody thanks for the add

I`m martyn, 36yrs old divorced (cheating ex) with two teenagers, living in Rotherham working at the steelworks in sheffield.

Found the site whilst googling for as much info as possible on mk2 sciroccos after my daughter found some old pics of me when i was 18 (36 now haha) living at my parents with a mk1 fiesta supersport on their drive with the engine and suspension in pieces being altered and now she wants to do a father/daughter project with me.

In the process of negotiating to buy a friends mk2 E plate in white after someone has drove down the side of it creasing passenger door and wing it has been registered as cat c too much to economically repair but he`s bought it back now sat in his garage looking sorry for itself and I`m eyeing up a restoration and modern 1800 turbo running gear.

will be asking advice and searching the forum for fitting advice :-D

Got to keep my abi off the net though she`s looking at you tube at berg hill climbers and racers she likes the wider arches :P

Fingers crossed he`ll let me have it especially has his wife is bending his ear saying she`s sick of seeing it in a poor state and he`s doing nothing (wifes haha).

Had a couple of veedubs mk1 golf gti, mk3 golf gti and a polo nothing special like a gti ooh well haha be nice to get my hands dirty again and call a few you owe me in.

whoops nearly forgot is there anything I need to be aware of when going to give the scirocco a look over rust areas, water leaks etc helped an old school friend rebuild a mk2 fiesta and i`ve never seen soo much rust.

welcome mart - you're in the right place for the info and the helpful people.

mk1 golf running gear all round so you should be familiar with the usual issues.

as long as the rear axle mounts are ok you've got a decent base - then check filler neck, bulkhead (clutch cable), interior leaks including near fusebox.

good luck with whatever the project throws at you and your lass.

Hi everyone :newbie:

My name is Ian & i live in Ashford, Kent
Just brought my first every Scirocco, a Mk2 Scala. Those on facebook may have seen it for sale a while ago, Green 1.8 carb version.

I've always loved rocco's & tbh don't know why i never got round to buying one before?
Anyhow this come up for sale shortly after i had brought an old Audi as a project & as it had T&T i thought would fly away. I then gave the Audi my personal kiss-of-death by starting a build thread on another forum (so DON'T expect one for this). So the Audi went off to the great scrap yard in the sky. I then found out this was still up for grabs so agreed a price & brought her home.

It is in a poor way & will need a lot of tlc but i'm in no rush so a long term project she has become. As the weather seems to have suddenly changed it may be back on the road sooner than i had expected.

Hopefully i will be seeing some of you out & about as the show season kicks off but no doubt i will be on here looking for parts & advice :-D

Hello mate, welcome along, another car we will see at shows?

Are you sure your car is a Scala? The reason I ask is that your car is Green Pearl, which came out on later Scala's which were all injection?

Nope, no idea at all lol
In all honesty i really know sod all about the different models. I was told it was a Scala so was just going on that. Hopefully now i'm an owner i'll start to learn a bit more about them.

In answer to your other question, yep you will see me at shows. I was going to go Ultimate Dubs last weekend (not in the rocco) but just couldn't be bothered with the drive all the way from Kent

Be good to see another car at the shows, the Register usually has a club stand at the Bromley Pageant, always a few spaces. :good:

Condition is not a factor, being there is what counts mate, the more the merrier.

Hi thanks for the add. :yahoo:

My name is Carolyn, I'm 35 and I live in County Durham with my hubby and dog. So thats the boring bit over with :P

Always loved the scirocco and wanted one for some time. I deliberated for some time before finally purchasing mine in October of 2013 due to boot issues and having the dog - but yeah you guessed it, the desire to own one outweighed the need to get the dog in the boot easily ( well after all thats what the husbands clio of doom is for)

Sid is a 2010 GT Tdi 170bhp in midnight blue and I am having so much fun driving him.

At the moment he is staying standard but in the future I want to lower him and change the wheels but nothing much else really (well maybe a chip)

Quick photo for the hell of it
