I had an 89 Scirocco scala injection years ago which was great until the clutch cable busted through the bulkhead

Many years and multiple VAG cars later Ive decided to look for another one ( a mint white Scala lives near me and I keep seeing it and thinking I need one!).
I am looking for an injection model but there seem to be loads of GT2's for sale in great condition. The trouble is I have never driven one, are they much slower than an injection? And are the insurance costs any better?
Cheers, Jim
Where are you based mate?

Hi, I'm Chris and a soon-to-be Gt2 owner!
I've been lurking for the past year ish and spent far too much time looking through photo threads, however only signed up today, as I've just put a deposit down on a Mk2 GT2 which should be picked up tomorrow
I've been driving a 1L Mk2 Polo for the past year, so the 'rocco should have a bit more oomph which will be nice! From what i've seen of it, it'll need a good polish, new radio, new window switch and some roof bars. Would eBay be the best place for last two bits?
Here's a quick pic I grabbed before leaving it:

Im near Brighton
Cheers for all the advice, I knew to definitely check the bodywork especially the bulkhead afte the painful memories of when my old scala clutch cable let go
Im warming to the idea of a carb'd engine car, sounds like the weber is the way to go with them. Were any vw engines fitted with the weber as standard?

hi everyone,
My names Chris, Im from all the way up north in Carlisle and am desperately looking for a mk2 fuel injection rocco,
My previous car was a mk1 golf van which i put a 16v motor in and used for track days, 14.6 second quarter mile is pretty respectable for no experience and built on my drive!
I thought of another golf but fancied something a little bit different...
I've also started stockpiling already for the 20vt conversion i will be doing....
Excited to be having a new project and doing a build thread
Chris

Thanks! Yeh was a barn find! Wish id not got rid but needed cash for a deposit on house... but the good news is I just bought a rocco today!! Really nice guy from manchester... bought from ebay, broke down 2 times on way hone lol first tine gear linkage poppednoff and second time after toilet stop starter wouldnt work, luckily previous owner just hadnt tightened connections on it after fitting a new one!
I think its a lil gem, but sunroof will tilt not slide as runner snapped and also has a puddle in passenger rear footwell, same side as sunroof runner broke, so guessing thats problem, suspension shot and track rod end got lots o play and brakes are bad... but I work at euro carparts.. and already have the parts in my posession! Even got a vauxhall big brake upgrade sitting ready to go on.. will get some pics on tomorrow!

Hi everyone, I used to be a member on here some years ago, but have lost all my login details, so I have re-registered. I have had 5 rocco's in the past. My first was an 85 GTS in Alpine White but she was sold to a family member to help them out when they needed some cheap transport. I them had an 84 Storm in Havana brown, ebay purchase that was to far gone and needed a lot of work, so she was sent to the scrap man in the sky. Next came an 86 GTX but as our third child came along she was no longer practical, so had to go. I managed a couple of years with MK2 Golf's before I found a really nice, full history 89 Scala. She was mint and had the most perfect P-slots I have ever seen, including centre caps. Original bill of sale and everything. Went on holiday to come back to her being stolen. My wife found me a 92 GTII but I never really used her so she was sold on to a collector.
Anyway long story, now my boys are teenagers and I am looking for a Rocco. I would like another GTS but haven't seen any come up yet. I am looking forward to getting advice, speaking to fellow enthusiasts and getting my hands dirty again, then attending a few meets.
So Hi everyone from sunny Nottingham
Richard

Yeah it's quite fun to drive but not as good as my previous scala blue on a weber carb...
I'll take some pics over the weekend mate.
