well we have made some good progress. Got the gear linkage in with all new bushes/fixings, and I have modified the airbox/airfilter thing so it locates nicely above the chassis leg - i had to trim it down because the one I have got is from a Golf mk2 when the metering head was on it would foul on the bonnet.
I also had a go at figuring out the engine wiring loom. Wow, for a simple non fuel-injected engine there is still a good few wires to make use off due to the ISV, ECU and Ign Control Module.. think I have got the crooks of it sorted tho now and know where most of it is going. I am going to remake the engine loom because the one I got is cut in several places and is missing a few bits too. I need to get hold of the clips which attach to the throttle body, coolant sensors etc, somehow they werent included when I got my loom.
Purchased some 280mm brake caliper adaptors from Just Caddies too. I am going to make a template of them before I they are fitted so i can make a few sets up. The brakes will be fitted this week, and the next job after then engine loom is to fit all new brake lines.
Hopefully the engine will be running by the end of the month.

This might help you with your connectors. I've used them before for rewiring parts of my loom.

Went down to the unit yesterday and put the brakes on, I am going to have a try at making the brake lines this evening if i get the hang of the flaring tool.
Decided after spending a few hours labeling and messing with wires that if i seriously want to get it on the road for Ultimate Dubs i need some professional help. So my main man Dave – the local auto-electrician is coming on Friday to spend a few hours with me getting it wired up – I’m going to help (where possible) so i know for next time.. There is still abit to do before he comes like, but if it all goes to plan, we could be running early next week.
Getting excited now!!

bad news... as quickly as we started, as quickly we stop!!!
on saturday playin rugby i broke my right hand in several places, and need an operation on it so the good doc at the hospital said! bit peeved as i am pretty knackered for doing any thing really. i am not allowed to drive either which is a pain, but the thing thats most annoyin is i cant realistically do any serious work on the car either.
It looks like i will be in plaster for about 6 weeks, so that pretty much kills my plan of havin it ready for March time and showing it at Ultimate Dubs! which is crap!!!
will defo be going down there over the next few weeks to do what i can on the car, ive not really got much wlse to do for 6 weeks now i am signed off work!! lol

Oh nooo!
Wish you a quick recovery, only thing you can do now is a load of left hand polishing... how can I say that without sounding wrong...?

192 miles = £70 or a full tank of Optimax.... by my reckoning I'm getting about 18mpg.
Ohhh well... its worth it!!
