Re: Rusty's Rocco.. MAN ALIVE!!!!!! SHE GOES LIKE STINK!!!!!

Thank you.

Made some more progress with adjusting my gear linkage a bit more, 1st and third were more like siamese twins before!
Also looking to tap my inlet for a single fogger nitrous install and look to direct port over the winter..
May also lose the dash and fit a snazzy dials and gauge panel to save some more weight!

June the 18th needs to hurry up so i can play :pilot:

Not sure Sean, the car needs tax and mot still and the money for the events each month takes its toll on being social with it lol.

Be sure that it will definately be out come Beaulieu 2010!!

well, had a good weekend with the car.

Car was as bad running as the times were consistent. Qualified 4th and lost first elimination by .0410 of a second! (my reaction time basically)

Worked out I was using about 110bhp for the run which is certainly not a 16v motor in a car weighing less than 1tonne

Best run was 17.58 at 74mph! Fundemental problems definately.

Engine is going to be reworked in the space of a month ready for Bug Jam! Also taxed and mot'd

Best pull my finger out!

Wheels are looking good matey.
17.58 is abit less than what I was expecting though? I'd have thought you'd have been getting in the 15's? What do you think the problems are Rusty?

Think the problem is defo timing, I have not had it timed back up properly since putting the 16v box on so i can see the markers for timing properly.

The distributor is so far from around the centre its too wrong to be right. I have it upside down as well as advised by someone way back when.. need to get back to basics in all areas regarding timing (cam/timing belt and ignition timing,

Pull it apart and start again.. I will get it right and get the high 14's I am expecting. I still made good progress from going 24 seconds at 48mph to 17.58 at 76 lol

Pic from the weekend on Eurodragster (they had plenty of time to get a good one lol)

timing was a tooth out, now I got to sort out fuel/air mixture and idle screw to get her running properly. Bit of a bastard the other night so will go back with a fresh mind.

Certainly improved the engine tone and is now crisper on the exhaust note.

Cheers

In other news...
I will be giving up the racing and my workshop due to personal circumstances for the forseeable future. I will defo return to it but at present, my girls are the most important thing...

Perhaps I might get the car out to a show or two for time outbut nothing is certain at the moment.

Good to hear you got the timing sorted mate. Its a shame your not going to be racing anymore, but understand you have other commitments! I'll be keeping an eye out for an update never-the-less!
