Re: Show us your Mk2 - picture thread.......
Looks a lot better in the photos than in the flesh! Has a few rust spots around it and needs a damn good clean as has been stood since May and only done a few hundred miles in the last 2 years!

how my scala currently looks. no front or rear bumpers, no bonnet, no front or rear lights, no spoiler, no exhaust, no interior just the drivers seat (put in after the pics). In the garage this weekend having a check over after changing timing belt etc then put it all back together

I bought this scala in may, but we have both been through turbulent times in this past (almost) year. I bought this as a fun weekend car but it has become a daily driver. It has run well since a few incidents, one involving the engine bay being on fire when the ignition coil ruptured.

After a recent clean, looking mean!
Hope you guys like the pics.

Oh it does! Picture doesnt show the imperfections to be honest, it was hand sprayed in a garage before I had it, wasnt pretty close up!
Anyway, its also the wrong colour! Tornado red might be great for most but its coming back in VW Black! Wheels have been changed back to the originals too.

Re: Show us your Mk2 - picture thread.......
I plan to take some Mark but over the weekend I happened to go to the supermarket in it, parked up, went in, 15 minutes later I came out and some absolute BAST had took the front bumper off and smashed the drivers indicator plus scuffed the front wing, nobody around and those that were didnt see anything. Spent most of the day and night messing around with the bumper but the piece it fits onto was all buckled and just wouldn't straighten all the way, thankfully I have a spare (but sunbleached grey) bumper so just for the time being I bolted that on. The brackets for the fogs are rusted tight so will have to be cut or drilled out so I can fit the old fogs onto it but its not an immediate problem so can maybe wait till next weekend when I have the time again.
I swear my heart nearly stopped when I saw what had happened! I just know I would have shrugged it off if it was my old corsa, theres a tangible emotional attachment with cars such as this that newer models will never have. Think Clarkson said it best "Cars like this have got a soul" (even though he wasnt referring to a Scirocco!)

Re: Show us your Mk2 - picture thread.......
How could someone do that!!! Gutted for you.
I always get funny looks from people when I park in super market car parks with my Mk1 Scirocco as I always park with the White line in the middle of the car so I take up 2 parking bays, I do try and park as far front the door as possible as I've been hit a couple of times (not as bad as you) with people opening doors onto the car!

Re: Show us your Mk2 - picture thread.......
People opening car doors is a nightmare, anywhere you go some idiot will swing the door out as far and fast as he/she can and just don't care when they whack your car. Also parking far away doesn't seem to help in my area, someone will ALWAYS park next to you
Not my proudest moment but came out of a hard/stressful day at work and someone in a newish fiesta had parked next to mine and slammed there door into mine denting it and taking the paint off. My paint was clearly still on there door so they hadn't even bothered to try to hide it, I had a little bit of a rage and kicked there wing mirror off. As I say i'm not proud but I bet they learnt there lesson!
