I'd be very disappointed if yours didn't have better bass - larger cone, more modern design (likely to be better suspension) and MUCH dearer kit! - mine were "budget" (albeit pretty good at the price) gear in 1995!

I shall give that a shot. Need to get the amp i'm going to power it with first though, no point trying to sort it all out on my home amp, it'll be way underpowered. (only about 80W RMS) per channel. As i said be4... on with the ebya hunting :D UNless anyone on here has a decent 4 channel amp they wanna sell..?

Well, yesterday my lovely new amp (ebay) arrived.
Its a Vibe Blackbox 3, 4 channel amp. 4x100RMS or 2x300RMS. or a combination therein. So.. slightly more powerful that my sub, and certainly more than im likely to run through the components. (which im yet to buy). But perfect for what i want, and i'd rather be overpowered than under powered and ruin everything.
Sucks i have to wait until the weekend to get everything sorted though... stupid jobs eh!!

How are you fixed for a head unit? Fancy a black with green lighting alpine? 60 watt x 4 (27x4 RMS). Suits the scirocco interior very well. I just bought one I didn't need so I could get the changer it was being sold with. Thought I'd offer you first dibs since you seem to want a decent set up.

What sort of outputs does it have...? I have a pretty reasonable HU atm, but it only has one RCA output, which is annoying. Mines green too, does look good in the rocco! :)

3 RCA outputs - front, rear and independently controllable sub. Infinitely expandable with 4v preouts and V-Drive bass engine. Do some googling, this is a top notch CD player. It has a few fancy gimmicks too like motorised tilting and swing down face and illumination that dims with your instrument panel dimmer switch. You can add CD changers on too. It also plays MP3 CDs.
Model number is CDA-7893R

Oh thats very tempting... but i'm afraid i'm gunna have to decline. Cant justify another £100 when i've got a headunit that will suffice atm. Gotta get some components for the front yet!! Trying to pay off student debt doesnt help :( Sorry dude, but cheers for offering the dibs :)

I dont know if anyone will be ale to help, but having bought this amp im having trouble deciding on which components to go for. Its basically a power issue.
The amp is rated at 100W RMS per channel, so likely to be slightly under that i'd guess as its a bit old? The speakers i'm looking at seem to start from anywhere at 25W upwards... Wondering what exactly i should go for? Theres a set of FLI components
-->here<-- but im not sure as to the quality etc of them. They are rated at 75W, so would they be fine?
Is overpowering the speakers likely to damage them badly? I can control the gain seperately to the comps and sub, so i guess if i turned the gain down it would balance out after some experimenting?
Sorry for the 20 questions!! Up hill learning curve..

The amp should be higher power than the speakers, never the other way round. Make sure you don't mix RMS up with peak or max wattage. Think FLI are a budget make.

Yea i thoguht they were a bit budget... but decent ones just seem so expensive :(
Think im still gunna have to give that headunit a miss dude, sorry. Can't afford the extra cash atm. And tax coming up next month :(

I have Alpine 6 x 4 all round in both my cars, they only cost about £35 a pair and rated at 150w max. I was a bit necky and asked for a discount when I bought 2 pairs for the Scala, got a tenner knocked off!
