You might struggle on the speed bump lol.

You can park on the upper part or in the entrance, you would have to get there early though. As it fills up quite quick.

Cheers man.. Im cheating on 13's

Sweeet!! I can upload pictures again. I bought these top mounts second hand from the US. They are very early Mk1 rebuildable top mounts but they have had spherical bearings welded in the top making them Soild top mounts. This gives me just over an inch of extra travel in my shocks and is the final low mod for this years show season.

I have had it tax'd, MOT'd and insured since friday and not driven it much tho. I have snapped an exhaust manifold bolt trying to stop it from blowing so that needs drilling out and the gearbox is making metalic type noises at idle so I might have to 4 speed it to get to edition38 safely :dunno:

Great score on the top mounts, they look fab. Ok for bonnet clearance?

Is the Jetta yours too? Looks hot on the Compomotives

Im Glad you like them im very happy with how they look. The top mounts were not a tight fit on my shock so I got my friend arun nock me up some sleves on his lathe. I got him to add a 6mm spacer below the sleve to avoid any bonnet contact as it is still very close.

The jetta belongs to a good friend of mine I will pass on your regards :good:

Edition 38 updates...

I thought I was on easy street its 2 weeks till edition38 show and shine, the cars taxed, MOT'd and Insured. Im left with ironing out the niggles and cleaning....... Nothing is ever that simple haha.

On the first night of testing the engine is shaking the car to bits (I assumed it was the poly engine mounts). It had a loud knocking coming from the off side wheel, it was that bad it felt like the wheel was going to fall off. I fitted a new driveshaft and hub on the offside, this made no difference so I changed the pair on the nearside and the problem was still there. This left me thinking the diff had gone in the G40 gearbox. I fitted a 4 speed 1.3 golf gearbox, the release bearing didn't work with the g40 clutch (doh). I then fitted a Polo GT 5 speed. It still knocked!!!!!

Its now the tuesday before edtion38. I removed my front gearbox mount and the knock was alot better but still worrying. The car had got slower on every outting, the exhaust had got ridiculously loud and it had started running on 3 cylinders. This was down to the plug in cylinder one being covered in oil... Oh no the rings have gone on piston one!!!! Alot of things now make sense!!

Its now wednesday night the car has to make edition 38!!. The only option is to fit all the turbo stuff to the old standard 1.3 engine out of my mates Mk1 jetta and run it on low boost. I phoned my friend Az in the day to see if he still had the saab dizzy needed to run an ignition amp and he did (HERO).. It was game on by the end of the night 5am the new engine was in and mostly plumbed in with only a minor niggle to get it running left.

Thurday afternoon.. I get all the niggles sorted and come to start it. After alot of faffing with the ignition timing it fires up but the inlet is exhaust heated on an early 1.3, I had cut this off the old inlet because it fuled the G40 head. so this left exhaust fumes pissing out the head haha. This was solved with a quick manifold swap. With this sorted I came to fire it up again but with more timing faffing it would not fire up. Morale is very low and thoughts of missing another edition38 are looming....

Its now early friday morning. Ive even got the Haynes manual out!!! This led me to look at the timming marks and they were wrong, the bottom end was a tooth out (this was why it was hard to start in the Jetta) I lined it all up and recharged the battery.... It fires!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right!!!! I best go get my camping stuff ready and fit my wheels and slam it for its tracking, no sleep for me haha

We pull onto the motorway friday dinner time and the knock is still there but very faint FFS.. A friends engine blew up and set on fire on the M6 Toll so it was towed via A roads the rest of the way. We arrived at the camp site at about 6pm.

Was it worth all the effort?.... speedboat YEAH!!!!!!!!

Cheers Risocco.. I went out my way to make the car different from the norm, I think the head scratching and crowds reflected that. Im over the moon with the responce the car got at edition. :vcool:

A few weekends ago I put my shiney wheels away for the winter... 1. because they leak like a b**ch and im sick of pumping them up as they need resealing.. 2. to gain some ground clearance. I have replaced them with some 5.5x14 Vauxhall corsa steels due to the high offset and ive replaced the front tyres with some 155/55/14's to give it a kind of aircooled look.

Ive also made my winter ( read early autumn) wheels look abit more bling! I really can't wait to get the rocco off the road again as much fun it is having it on the road, I have nothing to tinker with  Im left to just mucking about with wheel trims

Well the engine is pretty much toast now after a throttle sticking misshap on the way back from the last unphased meet before Christmas  . Its good timing really as it came off the road over winter. Ive got lots of plans but not much money. The aim is to make it more drivable and boostable.

It really does need the rust sorting out but I no way near have enough for a full respray. So I will just have to treat the rust and try and slow it down alittle.... -_-

RIP HH.. Im shocked at how long you lasted!!

I always neglect this build thread over ones on other forums.. sorry

They are the same as my current shiney wheels but mine have about 80 hours more TLC than these. Ive been trying to get hold of some 10J rears for years. they are even getting rare in race circles. So I drove 190miles to London to snap all these up.

I started with splitting the 7.5J's

Image

I then split the 10J's and had a play with the dishes. This shows 7.5J+8.5J+9J+10J

Image

Image

This is what Im left with 8.5J front and 9.0J rear. Now the hard part starts of making the dishes shiney and swapping in my polished centres. Ideally I wanted 8.5J all round so im on the hunt for some 5.5" barrels.
