LUCKY! Thats more than lucky!!! I still have an engine...

Oil cooler pipe blew off and chucked every litre of it up the road, in my engine bay, wing, tyre, wheel, arch, scuttle, slam panel you name it lol.

Could have seized it and been £400 down!

Before the event we were still trying to get this engine running properly, we think we have cracked it with 14 degrees of timing now and its pulling better and harder.

Clean up time tomorrow night and back out for another go..

We are set to leave for Big Bang at Santa Pod VWDRC Round 2!!! :pilot:

Qualifying starts at 1630 tomorrow and continues Sunday also for qualifiers and eliminations.

I am ready and loaded and the Scirocco is ready and loaded.! :focus:

Anxious and nervous at the same time which is a strange feeling!

Its been a long slog, I am 90% happy with the car and I can only hope it holds up well on the strip!

You can tune in to NitroFM here when the broadcast is open from about 4pm tomorrow http://www.audiorealm.com/
You can also keep up to date with whats happening on Eurodragster and viewing event coverage! :vcool:
Weather is good so without oil downs or track issues we should get quite a few runs in!

Wish me luck as I am fighting the Scirocco corner in a very mixed bag of Vw Audi Group racers! :beers:

Peace! :buddy:

So thats not embarrasing then....

Found out my running problem. one tooth out on my cam timing
Had a good weekend at the pod even though my car run like an FSO Polonez!

I was 10 seconds and about 40 mph off my estimated 1/4 mile doing 24 seconds with a trap speed of 48!!!! Thats like a 1.6 Camper lol

Now I have a happier car I will get it rolled somewhere and tuned up properly.
Also need to adjust bits and bobs and odds and sods.

I will be out to play again for Round 4 in 7 weeks time!

Pics to come :vcool:

Since Big Bang I have been tinkering some more with the management of fuel and air, I am just about right now so need a quick spin up the road for a test.
I have got myself a 16v gearbox to replace my longer ratio 4+e along with some 100mm drive shafts all from Slugga (thanks stu)

I am going to swap out the box which I think is more suited to drag racing.

Sorted my wheels now, going to be running 15x7 OZ F1 alloys, in keeping with the racing theme

Sorted my OZ F1 Evo 15x7's now, also need to put my new LUK clutch in and get the gear box back on the engine and try to see if we can get round the rev range quicker! :vcool:

Untested gearbox with no history so fingers crossed peeps. :focus:

Money is drying up and Summer Nationals is coming around fast!

Well what can I say...

That will be the 'rocco I wanted to build!!

After finally sorting the ignition timing by way of the flywheel I have found the car I hoped I would..

Unreal difference in the drive and power! The pull past 5000rpm is a corker!
Nervous and worried look is now washed away with huge grins and laughs!!!!

Roll on Round 4....
