i did the same on crusty and all that welding takes ages!
takes quite a while to get the right level because the angle of the roof skin for some reason doesn't quite line up with the outer body as it curves towards the outer edge.
looks good so far tho

Yeah noticed that. I'm constantly running a straight edge across it to avoid high and low spots. Should be OK in the end.

Bit more work today with the arch. I am however questioning the vent position and size. I currently have it set between the body lines but looks possibly too high and small.

Today saw mainly cleaning up cuts and getting the lines. Additional is the second and lower vent. This was mainly due to a single vent looking odd. This one works with the lower body line.

All looks really nice until you get to the filler cap! Couldn't that be shaped to match the arch?

In what way? To follow the top slope? I'd have to lower down the bottom line to do so and don't think that would look right. The idea was to keep it tight to the cap shape but with greater room on one side to open the cap.

The arches are pretty much perfect size, get much reminiscent of an E30 M3 or an UR quatttro, and I'm glad you got rid of the vents - they didn't do anything for the shape. I think I'd cut out the whole filler cap panel and fit it to the outside of the box arch to make it flow better. It'd need moving down an inch or so but I think it'd look loads better. You'd need to do something with the filler neck inside the arch, obviously, but I don't see that being a problem for you!

Cheers guys. Today I'm reevaluating the cap area. Looks at the pics this morning and its ruining it for my self. I'm going to keep it in its standard guise, but ill be following the standard shape of the cap area.

filler cap will always be a problem as youll need to get a nozzel in ulness you keep an funnel of sorts in the car to extend the reach. just got to keep in mind petrol safety if taking it to a forecourt
