Hi all,

just a quick hello as i have just joined this site.

I have bought a 1990 Mk2 1.8 GT project for my son and I to restore over the autumn/winter months.

All in all its a nice tidy, original example but has the dreaded stalling issue that seems to plague these cars. On the process of working out what the problem is but having fun with it (at the moment).

Pix and questions to follow! :yup:

Hi :hi: and welcome.
Lots of knowledge on here all you have to do is ask, or if you are shy do a search and I'm pretty sure you'll find what you are looking for. :yup:
Who is the boss and who is the apprentice or is it a mixture of wisdom and youth ??????
Get some pics up or start a thread of your own that we can all follow.

Welcome to the fold. I think I have seen your thread on Scirocco World, I left a reply ref your car. Did you buy it from a guy called Craig? If so I helped him with the exhaust backbox and I identified the fueling issue, reference too much fuel going back to the tank due to the Y piece being replaced by a T piece and so kept cutting out!

Haha! yep thats the one, it is a small world indeed! lol
Didnt see your reply on Scirocco World so apologies.
I have since replaced the Y and T piece with a proper unit and its started again. Am wondering if its a fuel pump or vacuum problem that is the root cause of it.

It is indeed a small world Jim!

Yes, I spent a day working on your car for the previous owner, he seemed keen to keep the car. When he came over to my parents place in Essex, he had a battery fitted that was the wrong type, too long and would not tighten up as the lip was too small. I had a spare OEM battery in my garage that I gave him.
Worth getting a new fuel pump, for what they cost.

Shout if you need a hand with anything.

:good: thanks for the offer and thanks for the previous work on the car! ;)

he had to sell as he was going back to studying and needed the funds. Result for me (once i get this issue sorted).
The battery you put on is now sitting in my garage and a new one has been fitted as it got very run down and wouldnt take a charge.
But saying that every car i have ever bought has always needed a new battery shortly after purchase.

thanks for the warm welcome :beers:
