Car's looking great and coming together nicely. :-)
Yeah, did sting a bit.

Cheers :-D

Finally got a bit of time to play, so I started on the stereo wiring. I'm going to run an earth and live direct from the battery to the stereo, spilt the earth to run back to the boot for the amp and use a double fuse box to run the power to the head unit and amp.

This is the fuse box, one live in, piggy back that to the next fuse and then run the two lives out.

Ran the live nice and neat, hides away quite well, and there is a nice unused gromet for it to go through.

I've fitted quite a few stereo systems over the past few decades but this is the first time I've popped the sill trim off to find solid bloddy metal underneath!! Normally just slip the wires under and job done!

Image

Through a bit of feeling about could see there was a gap further down under the carpet.....

Image

...but it was still stuck down with the original adhesive and wasn't going anywhere without me ripping it out.

I also need a switched live for the head unit so I'm going to use the cigarette lighter feed (I don't use the lighter anyway)

Looks like it's already been dicked about with.

Rather than messing about trying to squeeze my hands in, I decided to strip the centre console out.

I was tempted to use some of the original speaker wiring but after having a look at this lot.......

In the end I decided to run all new speaker wires.

My front to rear wiring (live, earth, amp control, RCA leads, speaker wires, etc) I've run along the centre tunnel, under the carpet.

Front speaker wires next. I popped off the dash undertray as I needed to get behind the sound deadening in the foot well/quarter

Image

Wire comes in just above the fusebox

Image

Original speaker wires have been taped up just in case I have a brain melt in the future and decide to go concourse
