Scirocco Register

Before Christmas, I recieved three untitled e-mails from 'Gerhard'. I just assumed that they were spam and had some nasty attachments with them. Once checked for viruses, I opened them to see what they were about and discovered pure gold. They were only photos from the personal collection of Gerhard Püttbach. He was one of the participants in the 1976 VW Junior cup series.

He has sent me many more pics from races at Nürburgring and Norisring. He has lots more info and pics in his collection that he will scan and pass on to me in time. I can't believe my luck.

Well that confirms my suspicion about the cup cars having plain black bumpers without rubber inserts..

I've got the insertless bumpers/endcaps on mine but had never seen a photo of a actual car with them fitted!

The other thread about Mk1s being undervalued got me thinking. What would Willi Bergmesiter's championship winning Scirocco Junior Cup car be worth today if it were still around?


Or Manfred Winkelhock's Rocco Cup car for that matter, as he went on to drive in F1?
