Your car is amazing. Loverly colour and a credit to all the hard work you have put into it.

After a long rest, i dust the scirocco and trying to pick up where i have left the car.
first is to look at how far i am now:
The engine space looks a bit empty, so it needs to get more parts,
also the front was a bit emty so i decided to fit the front, first some lights and indicators:
and then with bumper and windscreen:
and in the rear an plate between the lights and a rear bumper:
i also did a lot of unseen work, fitting the fusebox and wireloom.
more updates (hopefully) soon. but for now the scirocco is parked.

Thanks,
And yes it has been a while but girlfriend and house went priority. So the scirocco-project stopped for a while.
But after a weekend working on someone else scirocco i couldn't resist to work on mine again. It still needs a lot of work to get it finished. But slowly getting there

Hi,
Very interesting and impressive reading as I'm currently working on my 1981 MK1 GTi - which is about as far away from yours in condition as it could be! Did you have any problems taking the doors off?
Cheers
Andrew

No i didn't had much problems removing the doors. But with this car i was a bit lucky because it was stored inside for most of its life.
But in your case probably it is better to remove the front wings first if the bolts are very rusty. So you can access it from the otherside with wd-40 or something. A second set of hands would be helpfull to when you screw the bolts out so you wont have to worry about the door falling on the ground.
Ohw and make sure you have some fitting tools to do it.
I am lucky i can do it in the workshop from work. As you probably can see in the picture. So i dont have to worry about tools
