IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!
A mix of bad fuel and tinkering and we have got there! Blocked off pipe for ISV, repiared crack in rubber boot on the TB, fresh V-Power fuel with additive.
Bit of mixture and idle screw malarky and we have a runner.
Sounds beasty and with a bit more playing we will have it sounding proper!
More tinkering to be done then the clean up!
Time to sort the rest now!!!!
Cheers all

you jsut replaced the plate? you didn't replace the entire clutch, nor the flywheel?
...just wondering as I'm at that stage where i could put them in easily, thinking about lightened flywheel and or sports clutch... are they any good/is it worth it?
cheers, Jay.

I think uprated will be harsher on town driving. I will in the future when I go up in power change the clutch for an uprated one and look at driveshafts and lsd.
I have been advised all I need to do is change the friction plate and nothing more. I hope lol

Fitted the clutch and gearbox and tested the gears which are now working!
Test drive tonight and I must say the exhaust note is rather savage!!!!
Few odds and sods to sort and then we should be getting on near ready for next weekend's first event!

Rolled back the years and took the car for a little drive around the yard tonight.. made some progress in that its been since late 2007 since I have driven it.
Plenty to do and not much time but we will be ok I think. Thanks of course to the people around me for all their support!
Got to sort a vibration in the exhaust, clean her up everywhere and whack on some stickers. Sort the wheels and fit the bonnet.
Need to give it some beans and see how it is under load properly aswell
Roll on the POD!!

Car is moving but is bogging down when I give it welly!
I think it may be a mixture thing as its a bit rich!(not correct through the rev range?).. I will be booking the car in this week with JKM to get it on the rollers and see if we can get it set right!
Big Bang is the next date for the debut! Round 2 of the VWDRC and what better event to showcase than a VW one
Also need to get my wheels blasted and powder coated or sprayed up.
Getting real close peeps!

Well that might explain a lot! co tester read 6.3
got it down to spec and a little adjustment on the idle speed and I am now at 1k rpm and the car is pulling half a number 11 on the road

(need an LSD)
Spun up so well I did not realise I had done it lol
Suspension adjusted and the car turns off from the key now! (stalling or pulling hall sender plug was getting boring)
stickers are on and looking good, car looking good, im looking good and Big Bang is looking very very good now!!!!

Had a good drive of the car today, trying to give it the beans a little and around 3000 rpm the car did not want to pull any further. Tonight we will be checking out ignition timing and engine timing to see if we are amiss anywhere.
Felt good though and the old Scirocco smile came back for a while!

AWESOME!!!
Although I suspect you're gonna need a bit more than 3k RPM on a quarter mile
Good luck in the continuing fault finding!!

Right, hopefully sorted the running problem, the brakes were binding through vacuum so I have now stripped out the master cylinder and servo and wound in the clevis pin up. Not had chance to test but hope this solves the problem with the car not pulling past 3k rpm. Failing that my 1/4 mile times will be 24 seconds and not 14 lol. 8)
Wheel dilemma still exists so I think I am now going to run my toledo 15" rims with toyo t1-r proxes up front.
Sorted the idle also and can start the car from inside lol. :D
Peace!
