Agreed, get the floor painted before you move in, I still haven't done mine...

its like everything isnt it... if you stop and think i will do that another time it will never get done.. done a little sketch up to show the space in the barn once el-rock is located... The doors are a little bigger than drawn, as they are 8ft wide. I wanted plenty of room to get in.

Yellow is work bench space, and blue is shelving. I think i might need to buy some more tools to fill it..

Are you putting in any insulation in the walls?

No - i was toying with the idea but at the moment I am not going to. Because I'm still undecided about if it will be needed, I've only put 10 or so screws in each of the 8ft boards on the inside so in the worst case I can take them off and fill up with insulation if its really really cold.
I worked it out, and just for the kingspan it would be over £250 for the roof and its cash i could spend on getting the car working...

In my shed / office I used this
http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Constru ... 210/sd2738
The Cavity Wall/Partition Double Insulation, it keeps the shed cool in the summer and does help keep the heat in, in the winter. I just stapled gunned it to the uprights, then covered it with boards.
There is other places that sell it so you might find it cheaper, it's just like silver bubble wrap.
Just an idea... :dunno:

Here's another place

thats a good idea fella, i could definately use that. looking at it, it would be about £200-250 to do the garage.

saying that, i had a quick look down the toolstation insulation range and you can get 10 sheets of 50mm insulation for £63 so i am not sure which would be better? the hard insulation board would be slightly cheaper but the roll would be easier to fit i guess.

What do you think?

I used that silver stuff in a camper van I fitted-out. It made the tin box bearable at -10 in Iceland (with additional duvet!). Presumably there is some grading system for insulation to show how effective it is - if space is less of a concern, I'd go for whatever is warmest.

Well after a little google searching and a couple of phone calls, i think I have got myself a good deal... So - the shed is getting fully insulated!!

£150 for 40 sheets of 2.4m x 1.2m x 50mm Celotex delivered! thats going to do the entire garage and I still should have a few sheets left over. They come in packs of 10 so i have to get 4 packs, as i think i need 34 sheets... I am well impressed with that as last time I bought insulation it was about £12 a sheet!!!

Thanks guys!!

That should make it nice and cosy in the winter and cooler in the summer ( that's if we get a hot day or two!)

Decided I couldnt be bothered insulating the walls for the time being, if the time comes, and it really is too cold I will insulate later but I think we are ok at the moment - summer is hopefully just round the corner... I am going to buy a roll of the bubble wrap insulation for the roof though and get that fitted before too long.

So on friday afternoon, I finished boarding out the inside of the garage walls with a little help from my brother, I also cut out holes for the electric sockets and fitted the Pattress boxes and main circuit board. I also fitted some dead-bolts and a lock on the door so we have some security too!!

We also knocked together what is going to be the start of my wood store! I had quite a lot of wood left over, and some roofing materials too so thought it was better than leaving it covered by sheeting.

Over the bank holiday I started on my work bench. I wasnt sure how big to make it so all together its 5m long.
should give me plenty of storage places underneath plus alot of extra room on top for the various bench tools i am wanting to aquire. I've got about 5 sheets of ply left over so that will form the top/shelves for the time being.

Going to paint the floor this weekend, and maybe the walls too to brighten the place up a little..
