Aftermarket horn as located by original owner - can only think he did it to allow living in Bolton... where it rains a lot.

Next up, reinstating the plastic rain proofing sheets inside the doors - available from heritage- but will add this too. ImageImage

Good reviews in current classic car weekly and even though the new exhaust is much quieter I do need a little bit of the relative refinement the mk2 has over the mk1.

The modder in me meant the standard rims were never going to stay on for long.

Replacing the missing plastic sheeting inside door cards and adding some soundproofing.

Picked up the car from the PHIRM after a few days away last Tuesday... this old car just about coped with torrential storms including 1ft flooding in Croydon on way back..

Now has the adjustable lower stress bar swapped off the Scala due to 4into1 downpipe on this
one.

Nice new sump, later flat type to allow me to run with more oil.

Maybe a silly question?
Do those lower stress bars make a lot of difference? And where do you get them from?
Doing a cracking job there Sean :-D

Jimmy, if I was to do only one mod to a Scirocco or Mk1 Golf it would be this.
Just makes the steering feel more direct.
Simpler version available by likes of OMP via Demon Tweeks last time I looked.

Me too, worth doing if you like to drive enthusiastically! Does yours knock on the 4-1 manifold ever?

Not with this one, I previously had this one piece on the Scala and swapped the kbar because of said clearance issues compared to when Kbar was on old mk1.

Sorted the weak wiper motor this weekend.

Got the upgrade kit from https://www.classic-vw.co.uk/mk1-golf-w ... 5344-p.asp

In essence a newer mk3 golf spec motor and an adaptor loom.

Required drilling on the mount frame - the mk1 scirocco wiper motor sits at a different angle to the mk1 golfs etc etc.

Wiper motor is now nicely located further up into the scuttle.
