It's a Mk1 Scirocco GTI, so it must look good - does it not? Under close inspection though, the attention to detail is not up to scratch for a 20k price tag. Clearly a full resto paint job. Wings are not a perfect fit. No 1/4 line side mouldings (admittedly impossible to find). Painted over bonnet landing catch, chassis VIN plate in wrong place etc etc. A bit harsh I know, but for 20k you have gotta stand up and be counted !!

I love how 25 year old tyres are considered a plus.

KGF seem to be good at selling cars for more than they're worth... I guess now we find out just how good.

I've also realised it has a Storm front spoiler. Who cares? At 15k you really, really want perfect originality.

From the pictures on Flickr, they would suggest that the engine bay has been resprayed at some point - the sanding marks are visible in the paint finish and on the VIN plate. The nuts and washers on the top struts also seem to have paint on them; a detail which isn't correct.

Very nice car though.

It's had a bare metal respray at some point, apparently. The ad varies in its detail/honesty each time it changes vendor.

It's a low mileage restored car, which makes it less valuable than an unrestored car as far as I'm concerned. It also worries me that a car with such little mileage actually needed a full restoration.

Too true Ed
The MOT history shows a fail due to corrosion! I studied the photo's in detail once, you could tell it had been re sprayed, by the photo's that's never good!

If it's the same one I'm thinking of didn't the old ad say it'd had a complete rebuild and respray as it was a "barn find"?
Thing is with these companies, they're normally brokers in the deal and are invested as they have they pay for the work.
All a bit of a bubble as they base the price on the rebuild cost

Now sold.

Whether or not the asking price was paid, it will most definitely be a five-figure sum.

Can't say it's a bad thing.
