Quick update, engine bay is pretty much done now, just gotta finish the wiring. There are way too many jubilee clips and made up pipes everywhere which I will get replaced once the things on the road, but for now I just want it running so I can get it to the national meet. Things to do- fit the modified loom, get Ecu decoded, make a fuel pump loom, fit battery in boot and make new battery cables, finish clutch, fit brake callipers and bleed system, refit interior, wire lights etc back up.

So still a way to go but not too bad.

Ok, I've been lazy lately. Gonna push myself to get her running this weekend. Need to finish engine electrics, sort out starter motor and finish the battery relocation to the boot. Then hopefully it will run!

I'll update Sunday, hopefully with a running car.

quick update- fuel pumps wired in and all working with no leaks, engine is all wired up just need to top up the oil in engine/ gearbox and fill it with water, then i can see if it will start, fingers crossed!

things to do prior to MOT-
bolt down battery
fit front calipers and bleed the brakes
purchase and fit hyd clutch pipe
check all lights and electrics
refit dashboard

not a huge amount to do but time is against me to complete for nationals, might have to take a week off work to get it done!

Update- well I've got it running at last, runs ok, small water leak but nothing too bad, rear mount is poly bushed so it seems to vibrate the car a bit more.
Things still to finish-
Clutch (waiting on hyd pipe from hel)
Brakes need fitting and bleeding
Oil px wiring needs sorting
Water temp wiring needs looking at
Fuel pump and swirl pot need brackets made
Needs a bloody good clean
Dash board and other interior bits need sorting, not going to fit much though till after the mot.
Need to make up and sort out a washer bottle
Wiring in engine bay needs tidying up a bit.

So still a fair bit to do but it's getting closer to the mot now.

right, time to pull my finger out my bum and get this thing finished.
plan is- get the thing mot'd as soon as possible and then sort out the bits im not happy with once it is road legal, im thinking its going to be easier to play about with once i can drive it about,
things to do to mot-

-fix the fuel pump in a better position
-sort out washer jets
-get the thing running, i swapped the engine loom over for a different one but now it does not work!

post mot bits to do-

fuel system change including tank refurb,
rear beam recon (have a spare to recon then swap over)
rear disc conversion
tidy all the wiring up
new roof lining
board out and sort the rear out
repaint bonnet, front valance and both doors

might all be done by nationals!!!

update-
car is running and on the road all mot'd etc..
since last update i have done the following-
new steering wheel fuel swirl pot has been replaced with an internal pump design item, a lot quieter now and a bit tidier, braided black hoses and an fittings tidies it up a bit. new rain tray, bonnet lining and raintray seal fitted (all available through Dreadnought Customs, click link in my signature) just started on the interior now the fuel system is sorted.
rear speaker shelves have been removed and the area painted black ready for boot build, not 100% sure on the boot build design but it will be completed soon hopefully.

things to do still-
new headlining
seat retrim
rear disc conversion
custom rear light build
fit a front splitter when ive finished the design.

looking good to be 90% there for nationals.

Planning on doing a boot build over the following days so i thought it would be best to change the headlining as it would be inaccessible once the builds in.

I looked for an off the shelf item in black but the lead times were too long and i also fancied it in a faux suede material rather than vinyl, i couldn't find anything so i made my own.

bought a few mtr of black medium weight faux suede and borrowed the neighbors old 1920's hand crank singer sewing machine.

so this is the old one i used as a template and this is the finished article, pretty happy with it, couple of bits could be a little tighter but its good enough for now.

Quality job!!

It's tricky to get the tension right on headliners to avoid saggy or overtight bits, that's spot on!

Yeah it’s just a bit around the c pillars to roof that could be tighter. But overall I’m pretty happy with it.
