.....god damn it lol. You're both right, I've mounted the wishbones upside down on the car. I know what I'll be doing this weekend then!
It's in for an MOT tomm but i'm pretty sure this won't affect it.
Cheers

Insured, MOTd, taxed and personal reg transferred! It's by no means finished though!
I'll flip the wishbones and arb and get the car cambered this weekend. I can then at least drive it safely!

Unfortunately the car was only there for a few days.....
They called up and said that the piston rings had seized on cylinders three and four?!

As you can imaging after all the work of reshelling the car I was a tad annoyed. They said it basically needs a bottom end rebuild. Damn!
I tried the usual methods to free the rings with wd40 and other fluids soaking over a few days but no luck. Looks like im going to need the rebuild.
I called the guys who built the car originally and they said the can turn it around pretty quickly. Best case it will only need new rings. Worst case the jammed rings have scored the bore and will need a new block. The block has already been over-bored to a 2.1 so I don't think it will take much more lol.
Obviously it will me hugely cheaper to take the engine out drop it off but I really can't be bothered with more hassle, time and weekends burnt so Ill drive it and out. Plus this way they can set the timing and fuel on the rolling road.
It will be dropped off a week tomorrow!

Well it's been a month since the car has been at where it had the original engine built. I called the guy earlier and he said that one of his workshop staff had an accident that involved a cooling system to the face. He was rushed to hospital but should make it through ok although he has to wear factor 50 for a few years!
Obviously this is going to set the car back a few more weeks.
I've been thinking about it (more a case of nothing to do) and I might just get it done locally. I spoke to a company in Poole and they said they can rebuild and hone my bottom end for about £160 + vat and parts. The Woosener piston rings shouldn't be too much. Worst case the cylinders are completely shot and I'll need a new block bored out. It should still be cheaper than drive in and drive out I was going to pay for.
A few other bits that will also be done -
- Milder cam. Mine is a rally one and has bugger all low range.
- Brakes. The car twitches to the left when braking. Hopefully a rebleed will cure.
- Exhaust. There is no flexi pipe so will need one making up. A general reseal also.
- Wheel refurb. ....they look crap!
- Two new front tires. These needed to be changed anyway and the arches have chewed them up. Fingers crossed a smaller tire will clear the arch!
The garage was supposed to be arranging/doing all of the above as well so I should save a fair whack of cash i reckons!
