Hi,
Sorry I registered a little while ago but I've been away so this is my first chance to post.
I'm on my 3rd Scirocco now, first was an '83 GL 1.8 (carb) which I px'd for a '91 Scala 1.8i. Had it for 7 years until some muppet in a Honda wrote it off. Now on my 2nd Scala, '89 1.8i (same colour funnily enough, Alpine White), which I've had for a couple of years.
I'm in the process of doing it up, 256mm front discs, rear disc conversion and had the bulk head clutch area welded up (you would have thought that VW would have strengthened the bulkhead!). Lots of parts have been replaced, so many in fact that I think I only have 2 moving parts (other than the engine) that aren't new.
It's getting the bodykit taken off to check the panels and a respray later on this year so I'll post some decent pictures then.
Everyone thinks I spend too much on it but, as I point out, I don't have to pay some finance company each month so it works out OK.
Look forward to spending more time here.

Hi All
my name is Steve
I'm still on my 1st mk2, have owned it for 10 years, before this it was my brothers, it has an LPG conversion, running a weber carb, i have upgraded the front discs to vented drilled and it has an SS exhaust
the car is my daily driver used mainly for work, I drive about 30,000 miles a year in it, it has covered 429,000 miles of which I have done 304,000 myself, I took it for the MOT today and it passed 1st time, it uses no water or oil, and still returns 34 to the gallon at 70mph.
dont see to many others around these days.
great forum,
Steve

And here is a pic of my old one just before i sold it:

Hi my name is Ed I have had my 88 gtx for about 18 months/ before I have had a 96 golf gl (boring car), 83 golf 1.8 gti (for about 3 hours before it combined with a tree) 81 golf gls (4 coils removed from each corner and abused constantly) 2 late model bugs and I still own my 61 bug gasser project.
I'm from Essex and I am slowly upgrading the gtx as and when I have the time and money and will be starting a build thread as soon as I get a chance but will be fast before it gets pritty and will be old school cal look how the bug was gonna be before I fell in love with the DEANO DYNO SOARS race car.
This is me at Bug Jam 08 and apparently I'm not right in the head
