Ive been busy most evenings cat sitting for friends. I got a few hours in here and there in the week to paint the gearbox. Today I fitted my eBay bargain £15 NOS Sachs clutch and bolted it together. I am going to give it another coat of grey, then flat it back and add some VHT clear.

Over the moon with the colour!

Hi Winston - cracking find - you will need part of the old wiring loom, as the sockets are different .
If you haven't got it, I'll have a look if I've got one - not sure.

Hi Winston, I take it you've got the wiper and indicator stalk, as they click together! with three long thin screws that screw up into the column.

I have been struggling with a place to work on the Scirocco So I have spent most of my spare time clearing soil in my back garden to make way for a large double concrete garage to complete the build in. I have now moved the concrete panels home (never again haha) Hoping to have it up for the end of April.

With everything Scirocco related being buried in my shed I have not had much to be getting on with until the garage is up. I ordered some hardware for the Mad'ins from a Gotti dealer in france. great service! one of the small things off the list.

I started to give one of the centres a quick prep for paint to see how much work was involved and it was all down hill from there. After saying I would never polish a set of centres ever again...... I have started polishing the centres. So far I have hit it with 60 80 and 120 wet and dry. de-pitting the metal is the hard work.



I had some Ally welding done by Arun :wub:. He deleted the water outlet on the thermostat housing. It still needs a final flatting.



And he deleted the vacuum outlet on my VW Motorsport inlet. He is keeping hold of it to do make me an adaptor plate to flip my ITB's up side down. This project needs Arun. :wub:



I was on holiday last week so back on the garage build the tail end of this week. O0

I got a good push on the garage this weekend. I had the concrete poured into the footings on wednesday morning.

Then on Friday I put the panels in order and painted the tops so the stone chip looked a little less council spec to the neighbours

On Saturday my mate skillz came round and we tackled putting it up. On Sunday I leveled the ground to the height of the foundations and painted the outside of the back wall. and today I have given the interior walls a quick lick of white.

I am ordering the wood for the roof, doors and floor this week. so plenty to keep me busy the next couple of weekends. Move the Scirocco in for early May.

In other news I have a HRP bias pedal box (Modern day autocavan) on the way in the post.

I did a deal with my red interior for a 76 a friend had bought to donor a few parts off to complete his own car. It has been sitting outside for a year plus since he bought it. The car had quite a charm with the most awesome patina, I was very tempted to get it running, fit my wheels, square headlights, notch it and slam it on my coilovers........... I got the 76 home and I was really falling for it. I had originally bought it for the early clear glass, seats and pieces of exterior trim. So after a battle of will, I forced myself to remove the parts I wanted to stop me from keeping the car and getting side tracked from my own project.

I then had the problem of someone wanting a part raped 76. I originally had planned for a friend to take it and make it a light weight racer with a G40 engine but he changed his mind last minute. It couldn't hang around long as I needed to get my garage floor finished and my own Scirocco in there ASAP. I knew just the man! I have sold it to a another serial Mk1 hoarder from the forum. It is in the best place it can be and it has helped ease the guilt of what I had done to the car.
