Re: The Bandit
It's not grim at all.
My worry was the shell and what would happen to it but luckily someone has come forward and wants the whole thing which is a weight off my mind.
Think of it a the Scirocco Donors Register. I've spent years collecting some pretty cool parts and now I'm going to share them with people in exchange for money.

Sad sad sad times indeed matey. It's been enjoyable watching you put it all together over the years.Mr Funk wrote:It's not grim at all.

I will most definitely take those awesome door speaker pockets off your hands if you sell them!

Re: The Bandit
So sad that your rocco is going! But on the positive side hopefully you'll be in a new one soon, and with that a blank canvas to build something else awesome!

I shall look forward to giving the shell a new chapter in it's life :) I am however taking it down a different route but don't worry it will all be tasteful:)
Re: The Bandit
Tasteful wasn't really an option with me

Re: The Bandit
So I've been waiting for the crushing feeling that I've made a gigantic mistake but it just hasn't arrived.
The car is now almost completely stripped out and most of the parts go during this week - Incidently if you haven't heard from me send me a PM as I've been really bad at replying lately.
The replacement has already been purchased and paid for outright thanks to savings and money I've made out of selling the parts. It's not what I'd originally thought I was going for but it's a meaty 2.0tdi engine, black and at 41k the engine is barely broken in. It's got air con, sports seats, a decent stereo and it's got 140bhp and bags or torque even before I hand it over to the brain doctors. The plan is to run it for the summer and see how I feel. If I'm still loving it then a discreet lowering, rims and remap are on the cards, if I'm not feeling it then it'll be chopped in for a TDi mk3 rocco. There was talk of getting a runabout and another classic but that just won't happen, I can't go through it all again. Maybe there'll be a MK1 or a buggy in a couple of years but not for a while.
As I've been doing all this I've been wondering about a few things and it occurred to me that while having the car was undoubtedly amazing I think half of the enjoyment was collecting all the bits. It took me 15 years to get hold of some of the stuff and now they've gone off to another owner. If anything it's revitalised my love for the "scene".
