Great thread, This is looking one smart car. My first Scirocco was a CL. The only use I found for the econometer was to tell you were in 5th gear! (only worked in 5th I seem to remember)
By the way how did you get the mini wheels to fit? (bore size is too small)

The econometer doesn't seem to do anything but that might be because it's an auto?
I've had these mini wheels on a couple of cars now (Mk1 Astra and my daily Mk3.5 Cab) Little bit of tickling with a Dremel, just enough that they are a nice snug fit.
