Struggled to find time to work on the car this week, but got round to getting the bottom trim and rub strip fitted to the drivers door.
Image
The rear bumper was in need of a revamp.
Image
So its removed, cleaned, degreased and painted in satin black the same as the front, before being refitted.
Image
Next up was the external trim around the sunroof. The original powder coat was lifting and peeling off and really needed sorting out.
Image
I removed the glass panel, masked everything off and rubbed down the trim.
Image
Then started to paint it in satin black, in several light coats. It was really warm today, so the paint was drying really quickly.
Image
Left it to dry, then took off all the masking and refitted the glass. It look loads better.
Image
I've got a few nights off work next week, so hopefully i can finish everything and get the MOT booked. :good:

Don't ask me....it was like that when i got here !

Yeh Alex, have a look on my Red GTX resto thread. There's a pic of the Paint I use. It's brilliant stuff.

A few bits completed today, glued the rear view mirror back in, refitted some loose bits of trim and then gave the interior and good clean out.
Image
Image
Gave the outside a wash and leather off, so hopefully if its dry tomorrow it can be polished. I also need to change the boot lock seal and give the engine bay a tidy up.
Image
Image
Getting there slowly, should be off for MOT soon.

In between the showers i manage to get some more odd jobs sorted out. Started to clean things up under the bonnet as it was looking a bit tired.
Image
Then after a bit of elbow grease things have improved.
Image
Image
I gave the paintwork a polish all over and it looks great, i also started to clean the bodykit with black trim wax, but time was against me so this will get finished next week.

Today sees the final few jobs done ( unless ive forgotten something!) i finished off cleaning the body kit with black trim wax, adjusted the clutch, changed the engine oil and filter and renewed the fuel filter.I'm really pleased with the car, body and paint wise its in great condition and looks brilliant and mechanically its sound too. It should be going for MOT next tuesday or wednesday. Hopefully it will pass and then will be up for sale.

Looks fantastic, but then we'd expect nothing else from one of your restos! :good:

Out of interest exactly what type of stuff did you use on the trim?

Its Carplan (i think) Black Trim Wax Paul. Wipe it on, let it dry slightly then buff it with a clean cloth, its a bit of a tedious job but worth it.
