Ian, I remember these special 10, I was playing devils advocate !!!!....sometimes its good to be the voice of reason as you know.....Because iv had so many i offer advice based on cost verses value....I agree about rarety and they make the storm seem very common. If he sold, someone would buy it as its rare so it wouldnt have been lost...
Having restored sciroccos and golfs I just wanted to highlight the depth of the money pit before he jumped into it..

It truly is quick and the noise of the twin cams through the exhaust really puts a smile on my face every time!
You don't get a much better reason to keep a car than that.
Apart from driving your scirocco past some nice fancy reflective windows.
You could park it next to mine, its the cheapest way to make yours look really good,
especially since I forgot I left an engine near the nearside of my mk2, and in my eagerness to drive it
went storming up the drive and put some 'special go faster stripes' down the n/s door.
Left the engine with a 2 piece intermediate shaft and a few bent bolts that I had left sticking out.

and rather badly, judging from the project thread and from what I've heard about Bell and Colvill conversions. Still, mate, I'd only sell that as an ultra-last resort

You have no idea! As i was stripping it back I kept thinng "Why did you do it this way?!" It's all been sorted now with correct parts and a new loom.
Fortunately there are no problems with the handling or steering that ive heard other people mention. She sticks pretty damn well!
