I'm intrigued by the speaker pods you built... I've put a set of 5 1/2" pioneers into the same slot, but think i may have missed that now obvious gap. Did you silicone the other gap in the door in the end?

The gap underneath the doorcard toward the back? No, I left it for air to circulate into the door.... If that's not what you mean, point your camera at it, and I'll explain.

It was the other gap I was enquiring about yea. So they work pretty well just with that gap under the mdf faceplate sealed? I should really do that on mine. Same issue I think, low-mid bass is a bit pansy.

I reckon the way to go here is to fill any obvious gaps, then look at adding some mass to the door skin (brown bread, deadsheet, that kind of stuff) to reduce panel resonance

On the system I described here, I ended up with the sub crossed over too high really... That said, I was using old speakers which I didn't want to stress too highly! More modern speakers with thicker cones and higher Xmax would undoubtedly have helped.

sorry to hijack your threat foonzoooooorooooooooooooooooooo ( ), but if anyones interested, I've done this mod, with 6.5" woofers and tweeters

the speakers are for sale, but you can have the door cards too in return for yours if you buy!!
