Cleverness!! I'm using a Beru dizzy cap and rotor, the cap and stems are about 10mm shorter than that of a standard 16v cap. I've also spaced one side of the servo out a tad to give that little extra. Works a treat.

As for the tubes, they're angled on the manifold plate by a few degrees, it's a loverly snug fit, I ran it without the circlips to see what would happen and the vaccum didn't suck them off so they're on well!

Just been for a blast, turns out peak power is around 5500rpm atm, at least thats when you REEEALLY feel it push you back in the seat, anywhere above 2500rpm is scarily quick though.

How do bike carbs compare to the 16 valve version of K-jet ?
I have collected everything i need to get my 9a/kr combo running with k-jet,been told k-jet is good for around 200bhp max, suppose what bike carbs you had would be the deciding factor.
Looks a lot more straight forward though.
Was also wondering how my new engine would compare to the old dx,as when mine comes on cam it let`s rip, didn`t want to lose that, sounds like i am not going to though,so that`s cool

200bhp from K-Jet is almost mythical. The system can barely handle lairy cams let alone the rest of the work required to get them upto that power. Don't forget, a standard 16v KR is 138bhp and a ABF/9A is 150bhp, so 200bhp is a long way away.

Throttle response on carbs is insane, wiggle your big toe and you pick up 2000 revs instantly. The engine also looses revs a lot quicker though, so I'm finding myself on the throttle a lot more.

K-Jet feels lazy and sluggish after driving with carbs.

A 16v of any sort is an upgrade on an 8v in the n/a field, you literally have more engine and more potential for higher power. The 16vs have a natural step in power around 3500rpm anyway due to there cams so don't worry about having awesome top end. Stick it on carbs and you'll be loving it...Just don't try and use it to commute with..

Really !! Jesus i thought my dx was quick

The bloke building my engine assures me that it will be around 170 bhp, with the work he does on it,then it`s a good strong base for future development.
Loving the sound of bike carbs, but then i also like the sound of throttle bodies and 2 stage injection, with the management to match.
Car is a 2nd vehicle,so i don`t rely on it,or use it too commute, uses enough fuel as it is at the moment.

170bhp will be more than enough in a Scirocco, I estimate mine to be somewhere around 155/160ish with the work done, probably gain a few more when the lairy cams go in. It's becoming undriveable though, it's too much power for the chassis to handle..Its all there under foot and you mash the pedal and it squirms and squeels and wanders all over the place, they become very twitchy when pumping out high n/a power.

Agreed. when I had the 20vT engine in (260bhp) it felt like it was wanting to pull the front end off when the boost kicked in.. It was pretty much undriveable tbh...

What cams are youg going to run Boomsong? 268's?

Going for a 274/276 combo, should be lairy with that. Then if I get bored of them i'll rebuild the head and stick a 294/294 combo in :P

I find the cage helps a bit with power put down, have had it up on 3 wheels, and it spins like hell coming off roundabouts, don`t really use it in the wet much, but i would have to go very easy
