Will try and make it to Cosford this year (for once). Had the cam and tappets out last night, I can just hear air blowing out instead of any meaning ful compression. Could be the valve seats I suppose but I lapped the valves in when I rebuilt the head after xmas. Hmmm

After more disappointment with the 'rocco, I decided I can't put up with it as my daily any more. The bad news is that means i'm driving round in a Pug 206 1.1. It would struggle to pull the skin off custard, but does 50mpg and doesn't break down every day. 206 1:0 scirocco
On the upside, i can now justify getting a bit silly with the roc and enjoying it on weekends etc. I might even actually make it to a show for once!
List of things to do:
Fit injection radiator and cowling
Replace all hoses with silicone
Coilies (probably cheap ebay jobs- never going to track it and not a daily, so i don't care if the ride is gash).
And finally...
...MORE POWER!
I have two options in mind, and thought i'd see what you boys & girls thought:
Drop in EX carb engine and have my head rebuilt/ported a bit
16v KR running sidedraught weber 40s
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Option 1 is cheaper and easier, option 2 will be faster and shinier!

After a long delay while I moved house (moved in with the girlfriend

)and changed job, the project has finally taken a turn for the better. Got my council garage today!

Finally the rocco will have somewhere dry to live and I'll have somewhere to work on it. Should be up and running again in a few weeks with a following wind!
