Update time

On my way home from Whitby yesterday on the A64 near York at around 65 - 70 mph nice steady throttle, I heard a bang - at first I thought it was a bloody great pot hole - no
Then I thought cant be a blow out as im still pointing in the right direction/ not pulling in either direction
The car in front slows down for no reason so I put my foot down slightly more and get a really loud rumble/vibrating sound, so slowed down and pulled off at the next junction and stopped on the entry road to the designer outlet, which is a nice empty dual carrigeway.

Had a look underneath, not the exhaust as that was still secure. Then I noticed that the engine was at a dodgy angle.

Up went the bonnet, and this is what greeted me

Yep the drivers side engine mount bolts had sheared.
Called VW assistanceand they sent out a local RAC man to have a look, he turns up after 1/2 hr and then calls in for a recovery truck.
After a further 1 1/2 hrs and many calls back from VW to check I was still Ok and to see if anyone and turned up yet, the recovery truck arrived.
So finally got home around 12 ish after dropping the car in at the dealers on the way. I Went back this moring to drop the keys off with them and get it booked in.

Well I went to the dealers this morning to drop the keys off, so hopefully get it back early next week.
Was shocked when it happened TBH as even when I was in the motor trade I had never seen an engine mount bolt shear off. Fingers crossed it was just a dodgy bolt - I also hope they change all of them to be on the safe side due to the untold stress of the engine dropping when the cars travelling at speed.

On a more positive note I finally got the corrado running today after it had been off road for the last 1 1/2 years. :yup:

Update: had a call from VW today, they are waiting for a new mount from germany, so should have the car back at somepoint this week. As all of their courtesy cars are out the have provided me with a '10 plate Passat 2.0 140bhp diesel until mine is ready.

yeah it's not good, just got to hope they find nothing else has been damaged as a result.

It does look as though 1 of the bolts has been damaged for a while (pic 3).

Will see later in the week what they say.

Cheers mate.

I had a call earlier saying that the roc was ready for collection.

They changed the drivers side engine mount and all bolts that side, had a good look around, and have not found any other damage

Fingers crossed I can now have more than a couple of months with nothing else going wrong.

It's good to see you are all ok and that the car is sorted and i hope that's the end of the saga. but that's why we all need more than one scirocco.
