I added a boot popper a few years ago, I ran the switch through the handbrake light switch just for safety.

Got it cheers guys! Currently ive got the feed for the switch coming from an ignition feed from the fuse board. If i change that to running from the back of the hadbrake light then the switch will only work when the handbrake light is on, and will still activate the relay to open the boot when the switch is pressed.

Something i want to add to mine is a led in the cabin that comes off the reverse switch
I find that with the right pressure its possible to get reverse without feeling the depression you normally need in other vws

Took for MOT today and they couldn’t test it. Apparently they got it on the ramp but the jack couldn’t get under it because it was too low. Frustrating but how many scene points is that?!

Thats more causing a scene than scene points
Think mot stations have had their fill of hacked about low cars over the last 5 or so years so any low car gets a cold welcome

Think you’re probably right. Probably took 1 look at it and decided not to bother!

MOT booked. This time for 7th April at a place which apparently specilises in performance and kit cars. They cant use ride height as an excuse. They might laugh at it not being their usual porche or maseratti though!!

I’m guessing the other place didn’t charge you in the end?

Yeah no charge. Which I guess is more evidence for them just not wanting to put their names to it lol

Passed!
Got a bit of a to do list but that’s fine. Just wanted a ticket on it so I could drive it to work to get better access underneath for some of the bigger jobs. Plus all my tools are there!
Windscreen has a crack edge to edge. Not a failure never will be, ugly but not as bad as the rest of it!
Water and oil leaks I know about, have the seals and will do them with a service soon.
Play in the steering rack I wasn’t expecting. I will check it when I do the clutch
Wheel bearing play is fairly standard they are fairly new and I tend to prefer looser than over tight
NSF corrosion was there last time and hasn’t gotten worse. When I have it up in the air I might tidy it up and Shultz it
Brake hoses I have braided ones ready to go on so can do those too.
Just happy they were sensible and not too harsh so I do have to grovel around on the floor to do these!
He mentioned the single wiper should have been a fail because it doesn’t sit right at the bottom. I was going to convert it back to standard anyway so no real buggy there too

Good to hear it’s passed the mot.
I’ve had a few rear wheel bearing loose advisory over the years.
