Okay, thanks everyone. I think I have what I need to give this a go now.

Just go care fully undoing the old studs as you don't want to sheer them off.
Loosen the stud a little then do it back up, loosen some more then do back up etc.... as this will clear out the thread and not lock the stud in place as that's when they shear off.

WD40 will help loosen them up, right? Thanks for the warning.

Yeah should do, anything like WD40 or Plusgas, give it a good coat and leave it overnight, at least I do. The front 4 on mine are tapped all the way through the head and you can see the bottom of the studs from there, so give that a squirt too! Rears aren't all the way through so I cleared them out with a can of air cleaner before putting the new ones in.

WD40 is useless at freeing sized/rusty bolts, Plusgas is better.

check under your airbox if its carbed as ive had oil leak from the join in the airbox before now.
ended up changing so many rocker covers thinking it was leaking.
