SO he finally got moved today off the gravel and onto the drive so he could be jacked up and we could remove the kit

He needed a bit of a jump to get started but then all was well to say he's been sat since Jan!

How well on are the arches!!! finally got the passenger side off and very relieved to see theres only a little surface rust and nothing to worry about!

He is going for welding next month then will be coming back home we are doing out of the stripping and he is booked for body shop in Jan :)

Sent him of to the welders for his bum transplant!

As it stand the car is still up at the bodyshop, hopefully next time i visit bonnet, boot and bodykit will also be fully painted, front glass is back in need to take up all vinyl for pillars before putting rear glass and boot glass bk in. Bodyshop is rebuilding rear brakes and chaining brake lines also fitting new coil overs

Need a new windscreen!? any suggestions other than insurance? then he can come home for the rest of the rebuild!!

Cant wait to drive him again!!!

I'm pretty sure you can still get mk2 windscreens from pilkington.

Call a local windscreen place for a price to come out and fit, I got a new Mk1 golf fitted at home for £100.

New windscreen from VW heritage was £70 but I did not want to run the risk of breaking it when fitting so £30 for peace of mind was worth it in my eyes.


Mk1 78 Scirocco GLS 1.6 FR, weekend toy.
Mk1 88 Golf GTi cabriolet 1.8 DX. Daily drive.
