I believe it is but not 100% sure but can't see why VW would change the seal?

I have the metal trim on my car and it is possible to refit it, takes some time to make sure it's the right shape then plenty of lube and it slides in, lots of removing and reshaping and pushing till your fingers hurt but it is possible. I've heard of people putting the trim in the rubber and then fitting the window.
There is a special tool for the plastic trim which will make fitting that type easier.

Thanks for that.

Ok, so I've just hit "buy" on the seal from eBay :-o .

I went into the garage last night and checked the drain holes either side of the rain train (the ones in the corners) and they are both clear. Are those the only ones? Also, it leaks lots when it was parked on a steep incline (facing up the hill), do you think that may have had something to do with it?

I'm going to give it a good clean and then see how it looks.

I should really have checked to see if I had the complete metal trim before buying that seal but I suppose I can get hold of the plastic one if all else fails.

Have a read of this regarding the trim, it seems it may or may not fit?

Any one out there with some Mk1 Scirocco trim they could measure to see what size it is?

As for drainage holes yes that's the only 2. Do you have any thing else fixed in there which may make a hole in the metal?
I had an immobilizer fitted by a garage as I needed the paper work for the insurance company and they screwed it in from underneath and I had 2 screws sticking up which I had to seal as water started to leak into my car so check around there for any holes etc in there.
Have a tap along there as well in case the metal underneath the sound deadening has rusted away.

Another idea.... do you have the metal brake lines running inside the car? My car does and I had water dripping onto the brake line in the engine bay from the drain plug (passengers side) and then running along the line into the car, a bit a sealant on the old rubber grommet stopped the leak.

Thanks for that, will check that out next time I take a look.

I will buy myself an overall on my way home :| and take a proper look all around. The tracking is way out so I need to get that sorted too (I'm not sure how that has happened though as it was tracked in 2012 before I took it off the road)

Still wondering if I should fork out for new tyres on the man hole cover wheels or wait until the car is sorted. If I get them on there now then I can sell the P slots as they have brand new tyres on (only have 4 of them though) and it will free up some much needed space in the garage

Might need to seal around the heater blower. It's looking more and more like the screen seal is the culprit.

Anyone know where I can get a new rain tray from? (without paying a fortune of course!)

Scuttle covers are hard to get hold of as they only fit these cars and are made from thin plastic which can break so unless you can find a good 2nd hand you will need to buy a new repo one which blueshark was selling, it's worth PM him to see if the still has some left.
They do come up for sale on here but I've not see one for a while.

Drainage hole on drives side looks fine but the passengers side looks to small? It should be the same size as the drives side with one of those rubber drainage bung in it?
I see the ignition amplifier is screwed onto the scuttle do the screws go through to the engine bay or inside the car as I think VW did not fix it like that so that may be another source of a leak?

Hmmm, the passenger side drainage hole looks like someone drilled it...which is weird.

Going to buy a new rain tray from Joost :)

My new front screen seal should arrive tomorrow. Going to see what kind of condition it is in and, if it is in really good condition, buy the back one too. Also need a tail gate seal

The doors don't have the plastic under the door cards but I need to rust proof inside the doors first. The cluster lights also don't work (they actually flash on with the right hand indicator) so I'm thinking it is an earth (steering/horn one) or it's the cluster dimmer switch.
