Jem

Well done mate. When you get it back to Gods country let us know, would love to drive over and have a look at it.
Looks like it will keep you busy, but the end result will be worth it.

Mark,
Will be going straight to Ant's grotto for some TLC before coming to Lancashire.

Up early yesterday to drive to Nottingham to Rust Republic HQ to meet up with Ant to go down to Farnborough with a transporter to pick up the car. Interesting upon arrival, as the previous owner was totally unprepared despite my being in touch during the journey! On initial, cursory inspection, the car appeared better than we both expected. It is, as Hywell surmised, an early, '83, injection (GT11, GTI ?) with the kit being added in '92. We loaded up in the rain; the rest of the journey in both directions was almost all fine! Who says we have bad weather up North? Back in Notts we unloaded in the dark and then my two and a half hour journey back home. A 15 hour day, but very pleasant in excellent company, enjoyable and interesting. Car now resides at Rust Republic, patiently awaiting for Ant to wave his magic Welsh wand over it in the future.
