Its back! Lord knows how because last night the scrapyard next door to the garage went up in flames! Anyway, apart from being covered in soot it seemed like everything had been done, got it home and popped the boot to find all the bits to make the 1.6 carb a 1.8 still there! The mechanic had just stuck the 1.6 weber on with the manual choke, tuned it as best he could and left it like that! Honestly you couldnt make it up! I even gave him the carb manual which shows how its done and what parts need replacing, hadnt even been thumbed through!
On the phone again tomorrow to sort it out, ill have it right one day!!

Which is why you should learn to work on your car yourself... no one else will take as much care. Mechanics are always in a hurry to get the job out the door and get onto the next one.

if you need a hand macc im in south brum so could lend you a hand changing all the bits over.
you only really need the garage to sort out the emissions after you have tinkered with it to make sure it will pass an MOT.

Now THAT sounds like a plan James! I wish I was more mechanically minded to have a go myself to be honest!

No worries dude, glad we got the carb sorted out, even if we did end up stripping it to bits!
Still can't believe what a pita the sunroof was!
Never again! Lol

Another big THANKS going out to Rhys Jones who I met at M54 services today and who furnished me with the last two missing pieces of the jigsaw, a complete ashtray and that damnable rubber bung for the roof gutter rubber! Nice one fella!!!
