Sorry for the late reply I've been moving house!

I've put a cable on for the mean time while I've been doing my moving but I'm going to speak to my local bodyshop and see what they'll want to cut it out and weld something a bit stronger in!

You may want to consider bolting one in, a few people have had theirs welded in before and because there are so many flammable objects close to where this will need welding tends to get dowsed in water to prevent fire or spot welded in which isn't strong enough and will crack under flexing.
I made my own plate (which your fabricators can do for you) but I bolted mine in and put a bit of rubber material between the bulkhead and my repair plate to spread the load and absorb the flex.
It's been years and never had s problem since.
Plus bolting it in means in the future it can be removed if necessary.
