Re: Gold '79er - FOR SALE
Well I'm gonna put this up for sale now that I have the Red GLS to work on. Been doing little journeys in it over the last few days, and its just brilliant driving a car so original. I will get some proper pics up at the weekend, I'll give it a polish aswell. I will do a proper ad mods
just thought i'd get the attention of people on here first.
You need to know though that this shell is dry as a bone, garaged all its life, and well maintained, FSH part VW and perfectly original -except for the fog light I was going to re-fit.
Bad Points
It does have some minor scratches over the body work and some small patches of surface rust which have been treated. The pX door also has a ding. The engine has a bit of a rattle but only has 50k on the clock.
I'm gonna be asking £3250 open to offers.
<or PX with a T4>!

Re: Gold '79er

So i decided to fart around with this, as its now my daily, and no-body wanted to buy it :(
scrubs a bit on the back drivers side but i'm not quite finished with the ride height yet. I also have my storm leather seats in, they sit alot higher than than standard gls seat, not sure why....

Re: Gold '79er
Cheers guys, took it for a spin last night and its fantastic.
They are 7", (ats 'cookie cutter' alloys from the 70's 911s for those that dont know) so seem to give a good balance of width and steering feedback.
The steering is light, I hope to have the tracking sorted asap. Its bouncy too, the FKs are adjustable damping so i'll have to figure out the optimum setting. I'd really like to get my seats to sit lower! My head is scrubbing the lining!
Went to start it this morning and no-go -i think the cold weather is killing my battery. Do i buy a new one or just charge it////
I have a couple of other things planned : new metal pressed (non-german style
) number plates, tweak and paint the rusty front number plate holder, and remove the plastic surround at the rear. I'm thinking of spraying the bumpers gold (front already has paint on it, and the rear is very grey
) speakers in the rear and a decent stereo, remote central locking, and an immobiliser.

Re: Gold '79er
Actually yesAny more updates?
The warm evenings are spurring me on now, and what with the other mk1 gone I can concentrate on this. Tonight I removed the number plate holders. I placed the new metal rear one on using velcro patches. I also took some better pics with my canon.

I also cleaned off some bird poo. I wont show that photo.
Since the last post, I replaced the battery, and it made this good for a while, except the head gasket then went. Not really sure why. I'm not too wooried though, as the plans for the 16v swap are still going ahead - i havent dived in just yet though... recent experience is telling me not to bite off more than i can chew
Genuine Cookie centre caps are in the post, and the front plate hold is off to be powdercoated.
