Manspace update, it finally got some proper job related use lastnight, only need to fit a bracket for the light :)

Well over the last few weekends I’ve been busy widening the drive, before you say no its not for another project (although the grassed area is big enough long term for a 3rd car) but for my otherhalf who has decided that it’s time to not only get her driver’s licence but also get a car!!!!!
So this is how the drive looked before with my old SEAT parked up, the area behind the fence was gravel with a 2 brick high wall running around. The plan was to remover the gate post (which was already cracked about halfway down) and the first fence panel.
So out came the 5lb lump hammer and an hour later I went to the local DIY shop and negotiated the price down on a sledge hammer, the rest came out easy.
Then it was levelling and putting in some formwork.
Once levelled I lost some of the brick into the base by knocking them into the ground however, last Wednesday with all the rain I came home to this.
We were lucky 4 of our neighbours had there houses flooded and we spent 4 hours bailing one out!!!!
The result was the ground had swelled so at 9am (with the concrete truck waiting) I had to re-level the ground and dig out half of all those bricks I’d spent a few hours knocking in, still I must have lost a few pounds ;)
With the help of my dad, by 10am the concrete was laid.
Next jobs were leave it, then swap all the fence panels. The guy who originally put the fence is cut some corners namely the fence posts to either end of the run that separates the gardens, oh and the fence across the front of the houses has one panel halfway between the 2 gardens!!!!! To top it off he’d obviously made an error with levels on the one between the 2 houeses as he’d cut off 2” of the 3 panels and trimmed the 2 end ones. So much for a quick job hey.
That only left levelling the rest of the garden once I’d been to the tip 5 times to get rid of the rubbish and turf it oh and touch up the joint between the footway and the new concrete.
And finished
