Also thanks Nate, having gone through just about all of your advice the night before it seems the track rod came off quite easily the following day

I wish I could say I've enjoyed working on my Scirocco this week but I really haven't. It seems to have fought me all the way. Thankfully everything is loosely bolted in place but I have concerns that the main wishbone bush (The fat one that shares the anti roll bar bracket) isn't fully located on one side. Going to have to get everything torqued up now and get it tracked before 5 this evening. There is only one place I know who will sort camber but won't be able to get there till next Friday. Just going to have to make an approximate adjustment by eye, the garage owner doing the tracking today said he would try and visually adjust it by the cars stance

Better brackets sheered bolt had to be replaced, now painted and on..

Slight corrosion in all top turrets was wire brushed, undersealed..

remember that you are working on a car that is 20+ years old, and this sort of stuff has likely not been touched since it left the factory. just remember that a tiny bit of copper grease on the bolts will make sure that it'll all come apart easily next time you need to work on any of it

Yes thanks I've got copper grease on every possible thread/shaft. Your right though 22 years with no real evidence of much being changed has been a factor.

That's the car in now for tracking and hopefully the camber can be sorted.

just lean the wheels in as much as you can. go for the touring car look

Well that's me on the road again . Tracking and camber adjustment seemed to go well. No touring car look either

Have to say the car feels amazing to drive now even with it's budget tyres. What a relief and sense of accomplishment
I'm going to post up more when I get time for anyone looking to do similar work.

Then on to rear end once I'm more organised. I have a full rear beam to refurbish and really want the fuel tank out for some rust prevention.

Can see by your post you are delighted.
Great to see the car on the lift after visiting last week and seeing how much you had to do.
They are great to work on and there is no limit to how much you can do yourself.
It made my day when I read this, time for me to follow your example and get my finger out.
Next big job give yourself MORE time and LESS stress.
After all this the rest should be easy.
