Hi Guys / Gals ....
So I am New(Ish) to the register...
I have an LA8Y 1984 GTi 8v (Kjet) with Matching Brown interior on 14" Snowflakes.... (Has to be one of the rarest cars left...)

On the road has to be taken in it's loosest sense with mine! I am very slowly working my way through the electrics at the moment, then it's the engine, interior, suspension etc etc

Well, Good question!
The tag says SK99/SK99, but I can't find any reference to that code. I sent for the pedigree from VW and the Paint Code was "Unknown".
It's red.

I've seen a few posts of forums for the same question, they suggest it denotes 'special order'. So it may not be a standard red, e.g. not Tornado or Paprika etc.
