fun keeps coming, alternator burnt out from drinking too much oil over the last couple of months. New one tomorrow :)
Also, split the flexi on the exhaust just after the down pipe, welded and fixed back together! One day I might have a problem free car lol

Well, macde 129bhp on the dyno!
Still some sort of problem as I hit 100ft lb torque :(
Gonna be speaking with The Phirm on Monday to get a date booked me thinks.

Improvement though, last time it run 86 or something lol

Well, the time has come to put the white lady to bed...

After a couple of years building and plenty of money and heartache I have decided to store her away for a while until I get myself sorted.
How long is anyones guess but I shall return :)

Thanks to everyone for their support and advice over the last couple of years. I will be seeing you at a show sometime soon for a chat and cuppa!

:beers: :buddy:

Putting her to bed is fine. Just don't let her kip for too long. I think most people on the forum will agree, you have an amazing car. Lots of love and effort has gone into building it and it needs to be driven and seen. Good look with getting things sorted, just don't forget about her. :beers:

Guys i got to say "well done russ".
Every time i go and start this "beast of a white lady" up i chuckle to myself. The noise from the side exit the sit on the deck bucket seat makes me think
some people out there know what they want and how to create it.
The owner of the lock up saw me the other week and drawled over her. After i had told him that the car was a carbed one and you had changed so much he
was very impressed with your work, and he done a few in his spare time.
Mate you built a good one, and with that final tweek it's going to rock like a rocco should....

P.s road tested.
:good:

Cheers matey, I will be up to see her soon and get my list together for 2012 VWDRC :)
Off to the Phirm over next winter to get the issues sorted and get that NOS on it!!! :diablo:
To think at 129.7 bhp I lost a Corrado VR6 dyno'd at 185bhp to 80+mph means I am definately on to something good with the car... With the gas I reckon I will be a bit of a giant killer!!!

Did the dyno have an AFR probe up the exhaust on that run. Looking at the fuelling is one of the first things to consider when diagnosing a low power result.

Thanks Mike,

Had the probe and fuelling was spot on :) It will go to the phirm to get the final analysis of the loss of power, I am sure its not a mechanical issue...

Well, if the fuelling is about right, then that leaves ignition timing, cam timing, or a major compression issue, to explain that amount of power drop.

How are you controlling spark advance? Is it a kjet ECU and dizzy from a KR engine, or a dizzy with a built-in advance curve?

EDIT: I'm assuming those figures are 'at the flywheel' adjusted ones. If they're at the wheels then it's in the right ball park.

Its using the 16v ECU and loom, an 8v engine loom.
They are flywheel numbers, compression was excellent on all cylinders, cam timing looks correct and ignition timing was done with the light gun.
The torque curve was terrible and that topped at 100ft lb.

I have buggered up somewhere and hopefully the Phirm can find it :)

Cam to cam timing can be tricky on those. It can look right but be a tooth out. It tends to make the top end a bit rattly too. I once thought I had oil starvation till I realised the cam chain was a tooth out. There should be 7 rivets in the chain visible between the two cam wheels, I think, from memory.

BHP = torque x rpm / 5250, so if the torque plot is out, it'll always hit the bhp figure too.

Apologies to the mods for linking to another forum, but there's a really good FAQ that deals with cam setup, over on the old Golf-fanciers association.

If you're ever up around Windsor with the car, let me know and I'll stick the wideband sniffer up its chuff and we can give it the once over.
