Re: I hate white cars.

Incidentally, when I removed the strut from the body shell end, I may have found (one) source of the leak - one of the rubber washers had been put in the wrong place, so it wasn't doing its job.

Just had a reply back from SGS (that was quick). Apparently you can swap the ends over. I will check and report back.

Well, I got them fitted, but I don't think they're up to much. Rather than automatically opening the boot-lid, it has to be pushed open or it stays at whichever point you leave it. I think I'll order some Lift-o-Mats.

Oh, and while I'm thinking of it, 60mph along the local B-roads... I need to get some Fresian cow graphics for the car. Bucking bronco!

It seems the feeling is mutual. The car tried to kill me yesterday. This happened because I decided to do something about the suspension. In the end, I have managed to improve the ride quality considerably by raising the rear ride height by around 30mm, but not without a near-death experience*.

Another one.

In a bid to have owned as many mk1s as mk2s (I'm not sure that's actually the reason), I seem to have become the owner of this delightful '79 Storm.

Let's start with a game of "spot the difference."

Round 1:

Round 2:

And another picture that is not in the game (but is relevant to it):

That's all for now.

I saw the car at the nationals and it's a very tidy motor you have there, I bet your pleased with it?

Yesterday's power-tinker involved changing round the tyres. All are old and it's sad to say that the best ones are a pair of Hankooks. These weren't on the same axle, so I moved one so that they're now a matching pair on the front axle.

What this has done is:

1) improve the steering wheel alignment, so that it is now pretty much straight driving in a straight line (it was annoyingly angled before)

2) generally sharpen up the front end a bit, although it could still be better - more attention needed here.

So, in case it was needed, let this be a lesson in ensuring that you have matched tyres in axle pairs at the very least.

I'll be replacing the tyres in due course, but no time to sort it out before Goodwood Revival this weekend.

Thanks! One thing I never find/make the time to do is wander round the car parks - probably the best car show in the country on its own.

I had a lovely drive to/from the Revival and had some fun on the A285 between Goodwood and my campsite near Graffham (£20 for the weekend rather than the £160 Goodwood want).

There was a tent, but here's the car on Sunday morning after I'd taken it down - a bit dirty after rain, mud and lots of dust at Goodwood.

Another 12 months' MoT in the bag. Garage owner was very complimentary about the standard of maintenance (I should think so, too!) and said the car had been generating a lot of positive comments from his other customers.
