The frustration with this car is going into ridiculous!!!
Rollers man says "there is something fundamentally wrong with this engine"
No power through the middle of the rev range.
Fuel adjustment in big steps made no difference at all. He suggested, phasing (spark jumping to another point on the cap)..Fuel puddling in the inlet, fuel pressure
I have a feeling the ridiculous sound I get from the fuel tank has something to do with it and as I have swapped out the lift pump cos it was a cheap option, I am thinking its the bosch main pump not doing its job.
I will try and get a sound recording of it and post..

This may be no help at all but have you checked for air leaks in the fuel system? I heard about a similar story. The chappie gave it the beans and there was air being sucked through a poorly made fuel filter. Made the car all stuttery and pooey...

Cheers Andy, Sounds like a good theory.

Putting it down to fuel starvation up the rev range, tank sounds like its sucking air even!

Excellent improvements on the car front! Pulling a beauty now in all gears.
We stripped the fuel dizzy and also done up the manifold studs some more on the inlet. Managed to lean the fuel mixture and also wind in the idle screw!

Thanks mate, I am absolutely loving the drive at the moment! The attention and looks I get are exactly what I wanted for the work gone in to my build.
Chucked on about 50 or so miles without a problem at the moment so all is good.
Next outing is Sunday up Portsdown Hill local to me with a 57 Chevy Bel air and my mates Cortina (both prostreet) Should be good for a pic or twenty lol.

Good day, bad day....
Went up against my mates Corrado VR6 dyno'd at 185bhp
Got into my stride with the car and was with him to mid range in 4th then he starting opening the gap! GOTTA BE HAPPY WITH THAT!
Now the bad... Blew the oil cooler pipe again! Dumped 4 litres of oil in the engine bay properly this time!
Absolute mess to clean up before VW Action (weather permitting lol)
All is not lost and I get the feeling the 14 Second 1/4 miles are realistic.. NOS over the winter will see me 13's for sure!

Fantastic Sunday at Beaulieu with some nice pics of the car from Glen! Loving the car so much and do not want to sell but if someone comes up with the 2.5k then it will be gone!
The latest is that I have looped the oil cooler feed to the return. Went out to play last night for a shake down and the silly mk6 5 door hatch Escort with the whale tail tried his best lol
met up with a few from the local VW Club Dubscene! Had an excellent evening taking her to 5k in 5th, speedo dont work so not sure on speed lol.
