Hi,
I have got a 1986 Scirocco GT and would like to know if there is anyone local to me (loughborough) that has experience in the 1.6 carb engines as i would quite like myn to be overhauled????
Or if anyone knows anyone that i could get intouch with, i want to get all the engine bay sorted and brakes then maybe later in the year or nxt year look at tidying up the bodywork.

You are likely to have someone in your area who knows the car in terms of general 80's VW knowledge. An example being a Golf Mk2 Driver having much the same engine set up and Golf Mk1 Cabriolet also potentially having the same.
I take it you mean the whole engine rebuilt? or just carb or head rebuild? are you having issues? the Pierburg carbs can cause problems for example and can be easier changed for Weber. I'm actually now realising as I edit this you've had stalling issues. Would still need more info as asked.
Someone might well appear on here at some point who will know or be the someone in your area that can help
