Fitting Electric window switches to manual cards.

Post by MacColl »

This is just to check for a MK2 GT2 (new purchase which I will be posting up soon :yup: )

Can you fit the electric window switches to the standard door cards where the window winder handle comes through?

It looks like the hole is roughly in the same place but obviously will need some cutting. Anyone confirm this before I start deconstruction?

Also is there anything else that is different on the cards and car with electric windows? like the rubbing strip along the top of the card as mine doesn't have anything which is allowing air and noise to come through :dunno:

I have manual window winders on my GT and have installed Storm door cards with electric window switch holes, they are in exactly the same place as the manual winders so i would say yes.
All the felt edging at the top is in exactly the same place. the only difference between the storm cards and my original cards are some of the screw mount holes. There are less on the old mk2 storm cards than there were on my 89 GT cards.

This is only temporary until i get my electric windows to install :yup:

Hope this helps.

That's spot on, thanks. I clearly just need to open up the hole for the switches.

Was impressed with the dying you did to that interior :good:
