As title says I have just awarded myself this.
Reason being --------
I decided to remove my bump strips along the sides of my car as she was going in for a paint make over, and I thought how can I freshen these things up ??????????
Tried various "wonder colour restorers" and the result was ziltch difference.
Still looked pale dull and dreary.
Brainwave ----- I'll try clear lacquer, RESULT !!!!!!! they now look nice and shiney AND bright

Trouble is now,seven days later, they are still tacky and won't dry out.

So folks what's my options ???????

Wash with some sort of cellulose cleaner / thinners ?
Try and lightly sand off and leave dull and dreary ?
Bin them and buy new ones ?
Just not bother refitting them (quite like the clean look she has now)
Other options ???????

Mmm well I had been toying with doing something with bump strips and my idea is to viynl wrap them - gloss black - will let you know how it goes but apart from a seam on the end edge I recon it will work

Did you use 1 pack lacquer? i.e. a spray can?

Or did you go to the motor factors and buy some 2 pack lacquer? If so, you require a hardener to mix 2:1 with the lacquer to make it dry.

Use some standard thinners to remove the currently un-drying lacquer.

Have you popped them on a rad in doors yet ? may dry them out.

Used Halfords best clear lacquer - not intelligent enough to use a two pack system.
By standard thinners do you mean white spirit / turps or a cellulose type thinner ??????

Had them on and off the radiators over the last few days and three of them feel less tacky now.
May try this over the next few days hot - cold - hot - cold and see how they work out.

Try popping them in the oven. Gas Mark 5 for 20 minutes should sort them out!
