Hi guys recently joined and its time to put my first question to those in the know
I need to change all the brakes on my D reg rocco scala 1.8
I've been to a motor factors who have supplied me with solid discs (which i argued where wrong) came home and double checked and the original discs are vented.
Could someone please help me gat the right brakes. are the brakes shared with a mk1 or mk2 golf as the look very similar to mk2 gti 8v brakes.
any part numbers would be a great help. discs, pads, shoes, drums?
Thanks Phil

iirc the same caliper is fitted to both solid and vented disc versions, but with thinner pads on the vented one.

Yes, discs should be 239mm x 20mm thick vented. Euro Car Parts should be able to supply the appropriate pads, and has seen not expensive.
You may as well change the brake fluid as well while you are at it, especially if you don't know when it was last done.

Yup, sizes as stated, I just did mine recently, I recommend upgrading them to grooved/Drilled & vented, makes a massive difference when they heat up, the gases are expelled far better & helps to avoid brake fade. Not a massive difference in price either to be honest if you shop around. Lot's of good makes available, I put on Greenstuff pads at the same time. All that with the bleeding & you will notice them a lot better.

that must be the first positive comment i've ever heard about greenstuff pads!klittle wrote:I put on Greenstuff pads at the same time. All that with the bleeding & you will notice them a lot better.
i had vented grooved and drilled discs on my scala for a while, and found that if you drive in a "spirited" fashion, they suffer with heat cracks more than normal vented discs, so they weren't on there very long
