brand new under bonnet foam panels

Post by toomanydubs »

Hi there, i was recently informed by another Rocco owner that the 6 piece foam panels are now available at Heritage vw parts . I am used to ordering stuff from them for my air-cooled VW's but was surprised that they are now stocking stuff for Scirocco MK2's. Anyway i rang them to order a set and was told that they don't do them, nor have they ever stocked them. !! Where can i get a set from then ? any ideas?

I got my kit from VW Heritage. Their part number is C533-898-123 and it cost me around £85.00 including VAT and delivery.

Check out the links Sandy has put up to see how I got on etc.

Good luck … messy job, but worth it! I was well chuffed with the end result …

A word of caution on positioning the new sections ... line them up very carefully as the glue is fairly strong so don't expect second chances. I cocked up the first one , but spotted it early doors so was able to reposition it. However, I reckon if I'd put the whole section on I'd never had got it back off and then you're looking at buying a complete new kit.

:beers:

If youre not fussed about being 100 original there are various brands of stuff you can buy and cut to shape.

The frost one was the one I was thinking of, but there are other options.

This site looks cheap, but I havn't looked close enough to compare sizes etc.

Thanks dozzum & Risocco.

I rely a lot on personal recommendations so can anyone either give a :good: or :ire: report on these products ??????

I'm sure I have seen someone on here recommend the frost stuff before.

Newton commercial make under bonnet stuff for a few VWs but not the Scirocco yet. A quick email with dimensions and I am sure they would.

Apologies for the multiple posts but soundproofing is something I am looking into for my car anyway so keep coming across more stuff.

This is the stuff Newton commercial make their kits from

Under bonnet foam panel kit now ordered from Heritage

Post by toomanydubs »

Many many thanks everybody you were all very helpful. I rang Heritage again today and spoke to a different person who really knew his stuff, Yesterday they said they were unavailable, today they said that stocks were very low back at VW Wolfsburg but WERE still showing availability so i ordered a set. If however they are wrong and they don't have any left then i'll look at Frost as a supplier if an alternative product is required . maybe i should look at what Corrados use as well or even the new Scirocco, maybe i could cut those down to fit. Anyway i'll let you know how i get on. I won't know for 2 weeks as i missed the order date by 24 hrs and they place orders every 2 weeks. But i did send an e-mail to Wolfsburg asking if i could deal direct. So i might get to hear sooner rather than later . It's no cheaper as Heritage are licensed suppliers and the prices are the same a going direct but at least i'll know sooner. Stanford Hall concourse field beckons and the date will soon be upon us so i'll scrape off the old stuff and prep the area with panel wipe in readiness for simply carefully placing them into place as soon as they arrive.
I've had a few late nights sorting Beetles and Ghias the night before Stanford Hall and this seems no different so why not a Rocco.............. at least i'll get there a damn sight quicker the next day !!!!
Thanks everyone you are a very helpful bunch . Rocco-Russ at toomanydubs

That's a bit of a beggar ... wish I'd ordered a spare now.

Surely, they'll get more produced given its a common resto job? :dunno:
